Winemaker Notes

A revered fruit source for many, many decades, this special vineyard has supplied fruit to many of Californias top Zinfandel winemakers. Saved from bulldozing by Morgan Twain Peterson of Bedrock Wine Co., this 100 year old vineyard still produces great wine that is sought by many Zinfandel wineries.

Planted in 1885, Evangelhos tiny, concentrated berries infused with old-vine vigor are the cream of the crop. Really complex dark ruby colored Zinfandel, boysenberry, wild berry-fruit, spicy, charred meat, licorice, wild herbs. Lavish and creamy with fresh acidity and good structure and, rich chewy tannins. A svelte style of zinfandel with good length and chocolatey-bacon note on the finish. At 7 years old now, this killer Zin is at the peak of its powers.
